ABOUT MAURICE MALONE

Originally from Detroit, Maurice Malone, is currently a Brooklyn, NY-based fashion designer, retailer, and the owner of the exclusive bespoke denim brand Williamsburg Garment Company (WGC). Maurice Malone is recognized as one of the most popular pioneering streetwear brands throughout the 1990s. He is one of the founding fathers of the 90’s urban hip hop fashion movement, and his namesake brand, Maurice Malone Designs, was one of the biggest and most successful of the era. The brand was relaunched in 2019 as a designer streetwear label. Maurice is also a marketing master and storyteller, creating The Hip Hop Shop, a legendary retail store where rap battles depicted in the movie 8-Mile took place. The Hip Hop Shop was an institution that was an incubator for many of Detroit’s most successful rappers and producers such as Eminem, J-Dilla, Proof, D12, Slum Village, and others. Throughout his extensive history in the fashion industry, Maurice Malone has remained true to his craft and has demonstrated the art of branding, cultivating culture, and authentic storytelling.
